The Plans Take Shape

Planning begins for the Centre Équestre de Chevenez, on land next to the riding school run by Dehlia's parents, Josy and Suzanne Oeuvray, in the hills of the Swiss Jura. The project is founded with the support of Charles Burrus and his family.

Stables & the Sand Arena

The first buildings are completed — stables, living quarters and administration, a barn, and a 40 × 70 m outdoor sand arena. The same year, Dehlia leaves her parents' riding school to take over the management of the new centre.

The Indoor Hall

The covered riding hall is built, giving year-round training conditions whatever the weather.

Carousel, Paddock & Inauguration

A horse carousel and a 20 × 45 m paddock are added, and in October the riding centre is officially inaugurated. Edwin Smits — who met Dehlia in 2003 — sells his barn in the Netherlands and moves to Chevenez just days before the opening.

The neighbouring farm is developed into stables for young horses and storage, together with a large truck park, and 20 hectares of meadows are acquired.
